Read the Bought together page

How Bought together finds products bought in the same order, what attach rate, confidence, lift and score mean, and how to choose what is published to Shopify.

3 min readUpdated 7 October 2026

Bought together lists the products your customers buy in the same order, ranked so the strongest pairings come first. Use it to plan bundles, cross-sell blocks and outfits.

Before you start

  • You need a role that can view commerce, and a plan that includes Products (Growth or higher). Agency staff and brands covered by their agency's plan are never locked.
  • Shopify must be connected with order history imported.
  • Saving the publishing mode changes a brand setting, so it needs a role that may edit the brand.

Step by step

  1. Open the brand and choose Products, then Bought together.
  2. In the table's toolbar, choose a lookback window: 30d, 60d, 90d, 180d, 365d or All. The page opens on 365 days.
  3. Choose a group size: 2, 3, 4 or 5 products bought together.
  4. Search with Search products… to find pairings that include a product.
  5. Sort by any column. The default is Score, highest first.
  6. To use this window and group size for what is published to Shopify, choose Save mode. A message confirms it, for example "365d · groups of 2 will be published to Shopify.".

What you will see

Figures at the top

  • Pairings: how many groups cleared the minimum number of orders, shown under the figure.
  • Best attach rate: the highest attach rate among them.
  • Set revenue: revenue from the grouped items only.
  • Basket revenue: revenue from whole orders holding the group.

The table shows up to 200 rows at a time.

How pairings are ranked

The notes under the table give the minimum number of orders a pairing needs and how many qualifying orders were in the window.

Troubleshooting

  • "No pairings found": no group of that size cleared the minimum number of orders. Try a longer window or a smaller group size.
  • "Low confidence": only a small number of qualifying orders in the window. Treat the results as exploratory.
  • "Weak category priors": much of your catalogue has no category. Results get stronger if you set product types or categories in Shopify.
  • "Could not save mode": your role may not be able to change brand settings. Ask an owner or your agency.

Frequently asked questions

Why does each pair appear only once?

Each group of products is one row, whichever product it is read from. A plus B and B plus A are the same row, and a group of three shows once rather than once per product.

Why is the list sorted by score and not by lift?

Lift compares a pairing with chance, which can look huge for products bought together only a few times, so it is shown for context only. Pairings are always ranked by score, highest first.

Does the page follow the date range?

No. Choose the window with the lookback buttons (30d, 60d, 90d, 180d, 365d or All). The date control is hidden on this page.

What does Save mode do?

It makes the window and group size you are looking at the ones used for what gets published to your Shopify store. The button appears when your view differs from the saved mode.

Why does it say Order history is still being processed?

Co-purchase history is built once per store and then kept up to date with every order. Pairings appear as soon as that first pass finishes.

What does the asterisk next to a lift mean?

Lift is unreliable for categories that make up over 35% of co-purchases, so pairs in those categories are marked with an asterisk.
