Product tiering

Know which products to push, and tell Shopify.

Fabrik scores every product on its sales, margin, sell-through, stock and returns, puts it in a tier, and writes that tier back to Shopify as a product tag and a variant metafield. Your Google Shopping feed, Meta catalogue, collections and Klaviyo can then act on it without a spreadsheet in between.

Written back to Shopify

Every rescore writes the tier to your store.

Each product carries one fabrik tag, such as fabrik:HERO, and each variant a fabrik.tags metafield with its tier. When a product moves tier, the old tag comes off and the new one goes on, so a smart collection, a feed rule or a catalogue set built on the tag is always current.

  • One tag per product, one metafield per variant
  • Old tags removed when a product changes tier
  • Feeds, collections, catalogue sets and Klaviyo use the tag
  • Writing back is on Pro; the tiers themselves are on Growth

How the score is built

Scored on what sells, what it earns and what is left.

The score reads the last 90 days of sales, margin after cost of goods, sell-through, momentum over the last 30 days against the 60, return on ad spend, stock depth and how long stock has gone without a sale. A product with a negative margin or a high return rate is excluded rather than pushed.

  • Seven tiers: Hero, Growth, Maintain, Liquidate, Dormant, Excluded and New
  • A Hero needs the stock to back it, not only the sales
  • A product without a cost price is capped below Hero, unless it is a top seller
  • Thresholds set for each brand, against its own catalogue

Frequently bought with

The products bought together, on your product pages.

Fabrik finds the products your customers buy together and publishes each product's partners to a fabrik.recommendations metafield, so your theme can show them as complete-the-look.

  • Pairs from your own orders, not a guess
  • Published to a product metafield your theme reads
  • Publishing is on Pro; the analysis is on Growth

Questions

What does each tier mean?

Hero: best sellers with the margin and stock to scale. Growth: rising products worth more spend. Maintain: steady sellers to keep running. Liquidate: stock to clear, which you may want out of full-price feeds. Dormant: no sales in the period. Excluded: a negative margin, a high return rate or a draft, kept out of promotion. New: too new to judge.

Will it change our store without us knowing?

It writes only the fabrik tag on products and the fabrik metafields, and only once you switch write-back on. It never changes prices, stock, titles or your other tags.

Which plan do we need?

Scores and tiers are on Growth. Writing tiers and bought-together partners back to Shopify is on Pro.
