Connecting Google Ads brings in spend, impressions, clicks, conversions and conversion value by campaign, ad group, keyword and search term, plus Shopping product results. It feeds the Paid Media pages, blended ROAS and the ad spend on your dashboard and P&L.
Before you start
- Connect your Shopify store first.
- You need a Google login with access to the brand's Google Ads account.
- Who can do it: agency staff, and a client owner. Other client roles need the Manage integrations permission.
Step by step
- Open the brand, then Settings, Integrations.
- Under Marketing and ads, click the Google Ads row to open it.
- Click Connect Google Ads.
- Google opens. Choose your Google login and allow access.
- You return to Fabrik Analytics. Open the Google Ads row again.
- Under Select Customer Account, choose the account from Choose a customer.
- Click Save Selection.
You see "Google Ads account saved", then a message that a 12 month backfill has been queued.
For agency staff
If the brand's account sits under your agency's Google Ads manager account, click Use managed connection, choose the account and click Save Selection. This works only while the brand works with your agency.
What you will see
- The row shows Connected and "Customer:" with the account number.
- Google history loads first among the platforms, newest days first.
- After that, Google syncs roughly every hour, and each day the last 14 days are read again.
- Sync runs a sync now. The arrow beside it, where it shows, offers 7d, 30d, 90d, 6m, 12m or a custom range.
Tag your Google Ads
Keep Google auto-tagging on. On Settings, Tracking, the agency owner can set Fabrik's final URL suffix so every click carries utm_medium=paid_search. See "Tag your ads and emails with UTMs".
Troubleshooting
- "This Google login can't see any Ads accounts." The login you used has no Google Ads access. Add it to the account in Google Ads, then click Refresh accounts, or reconnect with another login.
- "Couldn't start the Google authorisation." Try again. If it repeats, sign out of other Google accounts in that browser.
- "Google sync is paused" in red above the row: access was revoked, expired or lost a permission. Click Reconnect Google. Reconnecting fills in everything missed since the last good sync.
- "Google needs the brand's own connection": the brand used the agency's connection and no longer works with that agency. Connect your own Google login.
