Why does Meta or Google need its own connection?
If your brand used its agency's Meta or Google Ads connection and has left that agency, connect your own accounts so syncing carries on.

Agencies often connect their clients' Meta and Google Ads accounts through the agency's own access. That access belongs to the agency and is only used while the brand works with it. When a brand leaves the agency, Fabrik Analytics stops using it for that brand, and the brand connects its own accounts instead.
What you will see
On Settings, Integrations, above the Meta or Google Ads row, a notice:
Meta needs the brand's own connection (or Google needs the brand's own connection): "It synced on its agency's connection, which is only for brands working with that agency, so it was switched off on" a date, followed by "Connect the brand's own Meta account below to carry on; history already imported stays."
On Intelligence, Data trust, Sync health shows the platform as Off, with the note "Stopped using the agency's connection; the brand connects its own". A manual sync may report that the platform "needs the brand's own connection".
Before you start
- You need a Meta or Google login of your own with access to the brand's ad account.
- Who can do it: a client owner, or a role with the Manage integrations permission.
Connect your own Meta account
- Open the brand, then Settings, Integrations.
- Click the Meta (Facebook / Instagram) row.
- Click Connect Meta and approve in Meta.
- Back in Fabrik Analytics, choose the account under Select Ad Account and click Save Selection.
Connect your own Google Ads account
- On the same page, click the Google Ads row.
- Click Connect Google Ads and allow access in Google.
- Choose the account under Select Customer Account and click Save Selection.
What happens next
- The notice disappears once your own connection is in place.
- Fabrik Analytics queues the history load for that platform. Days already imported are kept, and the gap since the switch-off is filled in.
- Syncing then runs on your connection as normal.
Connections made with someone's own login
Not every Meta or Google Ads connection runs on an agency's access. When anyone, including someone at your agency, chooses Connect Meta or Connect Google Ads and signs in with their own login, that connection belongs to the brand and keeps syncing after the agency leaves, for as long as that login can see the ad account. If you would rather it ran on a login of your own, open the platform's row in Settings, Integrations, choose Reconnect Meta or Reconnect Google, and sign in with your login.
Things that do not change
- Your agency's access inside Meta Business Suite or Google Ads is not touched. If you want to remove it, do that in Meta or Google.
- Shopify and Klaviyo were always connected with the brand's own access, so they are not affected.
Troubleshooting
- "This Meta login can't see any ad accounts." or "This Google login can't see any Ads accounts.": the login you used has no access to the ad account. Ask whoever owns the ad account to add you, then click Refresh accounts.
- You cannot see the Integrations page: your role does not include Manage integrations. Ask your account owner.
