Connect Slack

Send digests, reports and high-value order alerts to Slack: connect a workspace for your agency or brand and choose the brand's channel.

Slack is where Fabrik Analytics posts weekly digests, report notifications and alerts such as high-value orders. A workspace is connected at the agency level (shared by every brand the agency manages) or by an individual brand, and each brand then chooses the channel its messages go to.

Before you start

Agency workspace: connected by agency staff from the agency's Settings.
Brand channel: chosen by agency staff on the brand's Integrations page.
The Slack login you use must be allowed to add apps to the workspace.

Connect your agency's Slack workspace

Open Settings from the agency menu, then the Integrations tab.
Under Messaging, find Slack ("Install the Fabrik app into your Slack workspace to receive digests and alerts.") and click Connect.
Slack opens. Choose the workspace and allow the Fabrik app.
You return to Settings with Slack shown as Connected and the workspace name.
Optional: in Slack bot identity, set the Display name, Bot icon, Fallback emoji and Footer text, then click Save. The preview shows how messages will look.

Choose a brand's channel

Open the brand, then Settings, Integrations.
Under Finance and operations, click the Slack row.
If the brand should use its own workspace rather than the agency's, click Connect Slack and approve in Slack.
Pick a channel from Choose a channel…. Choosing saves it straight away: you see "Reports will post to #" and the channel name.
For a private channel, first type /invite @Fabrik in that channel in Slack.

A client user of an agency-managed brand sees "Fabrik posts your digest to #" and the channel, or "Fabrik has not chosen a channel for your digest yet."

High-value order alerts

When a paid order reaches the brand's threshold, a short message posts to the brand's channel with the order value, currency and source.

Open the brand, then Settings, Tracking.
Under High-Value Order Threshold, enter the value in the brand's currency.
Click Save. You see "Threshold saved".

A threshold of 0 switches the alert off. The brand also needs a Slack channel chosen. Only agency staff can set the threshold.

What you will see

The Slack row shows Connected with the channel name.
Digests and report notifications follow each report's own schedule, set under Reports.
On Settings, Notifications, the Slack column shows where each Slack message type posts, with a link to where it is set.

Troubleshooting

"No channels found in the connected workspace." The bot cannot see any channels. Invite it to a channel, then use Try again.
"Could not save the channel": the choice was not stored, and the previous channel stays. Try again.
Messages stop arriving: check the workspace still shows Connected. If it shows Needs attention, click Reconnect.

Frequently asked questions

Does each brand need its own Slack workspace?

No. A brand can post into the workspace of the agency that manages it. A brand can also connect its own workspace if it prefers.

Why can't I see the Slack row on my brand's Integrations page?

Slack only appears when the managing agency has a Slack workspace connected, or the brand has its own. Client users see the channel their agency posts to, rather than a channel picker.

How do I post to a private channel?

Invite the Fabrik bot to the channel first by typing /invite @Fabrik in that channel, then pick it from the list.

What appears in the high-value order message?

The brand, the order value and currency, and the channel the order came from. Never the customer's name, email, address or phone.

Can I message my agency through Fabrik Analytics?

No. Fabrik Analytics has no messaging. Conversations between brands and agencies happen in your shared Slack or email.

Can I change the bot's name and icon?

Yes, for an agency. Under Settings, Integrations, the Slack bot identity block sets the display name, icon, fallback emoji and footer text.
