Add a client
Create a client for your agency, work through its setup steps, and understand how its Shopify store gets connected and what your plan allows.

Adding a client creates the brand in Fabrik Analytics, connects it to your agency at once and opens its setup. It is the way to start a client before its store is on Fabrik Analytics, for example to prepare its contract or its team.
Before you start
- You need a role that can add clients, by default the owner, directors and account managers. Without it there is no Add client button.
- Check your plan has room. The free agency plan allows one client. See How many clients can a free agency have?.
- If the client already uses Fabrik Analytics, or its store owner can install the app, do not add it. Ask them to connect with your Fabrik ID instead. See Connect a client to your agency.
How the store connects
A Shopify store connects only through the Fabrik Analytics app: installed from the Shopify App Store or opened from Apps in the store's Shopify admin. When it is installed that way, Fabrik Analytics looks for a brand already holding that store. A client you added has no store yet, so the install becomes a separate workspace for the store's owner to claim, and your agency's staff cannot claim it. If that happens, email support@fabrik.ae with the client's name and we move the store onto the client you added.
Step by step
- Open Clients and choose Add client (top right).
- Brand Details: Brand Name, Reporting Currency, Website URL (optional, used to make the brand's icon), Financial Year Start and Hero Metric (the main figure on its dashboard). Optionally choose a Portfolio, or + New portfolio and a name.
- Choose Create & continue. You see "Brand created" and the client is connected to your agency.
- Shopify: shows whether a store is connected. Once one is, you can set optional data filters (which sales channels and order tags count). Use Skip until then.
- Pixel & Tracking: accept the Data Processing Agreement and register the web pixel. This needs the store connected.
- Meta Ads and Google Ads: choose Connect Meta or Connect Google Ads, sign in with a login that can see the client's ad account, pick the account, then Save & Next.
- Klaviyo: connect the client's Klaviyo account, or Skip.
- Slack (only when your agency has Slack connected): choose the client's channel.
- Targets and Intelligence Rules: review, then continue.
- Zoho Books: link the client to a Zoho Books contact for invoicing, or Skip & Next.
- Team & Access: choose the account team and its lead, and assign or invite the client's people.
- Summary: choose Go to dashboard. This marks setup finished and starts loading the last 12 months. Edit integrations later leaves without finishing, and the client stays on your Needs you list.
What you will see
- The client on Clients, and on Setup and health with its integrations and sync status. See Track each client's setup and health.
- Inside the client, staff see Account: Contracts, Commissions, Invoices, Agency margin, Access and Account team.
- On a paid agency plan or its trial, the client's Billing page says its plan is included with your agency.
Troubleshooting
- A message that a free agency can have 1 client: your allowance is used. Open Billing from the menu under your name to upgrade or start a trial.
- "The agency's plan includes {n} clients and all are in use. Upgrade the agency plan to connect another.": your paid plan is full and has no extra-client price.
- 'A brand called "Fellwick" already exists': another brand has that name. If it is the client's own workspace, ask them to connect with your Fabrik ID instead.
- "Enter a name for the new portfolio": you chose + New portfolio but left its name empty.
- "Your role cannot add clients for this agency": ask your agency's owner.
