A digest is a short summary of a brand's figures, posted to a Slack channel on a fixed day and time each week. It is the quickest way to keep a team or a client up to date without opening the app. A brand's digest can be emailed as well.
Before you start
- Plan: reports and digests to Slack are on the Growth plan and above.
- Role: you need permission to create reports.
- Slack: connected for the brand or its agency, so a channel can be chosen. The brand's Slack connection is in Settings, Integrations.
Step by step: create the digest
- Open the brand and choose Reports.
- Select New report, then Slack digest.
- A message confirms Digest created and its settings open. It is titled with the brand name and "Weekly Digest". Change the title at the top if you like.
Step by step: choose when and what
- Under Schedule, set:
- Day: Monday to Sunday;
- Time;
- Timezone, for example UK (Europe/London) or Gulf (Dubai);
- Timeframe: Last Week (Mon to Sun), Last 7 Days or Last 30 Days.
- Under Slack Channel, choose where it posts. Private channels are marked (private).
- Under Metrics to Include, tick the figures you want. They are grouped by connected platform. Default report picks a standard set; Clear all removes every tick.
- Switch on Include Target Summary to add target progress and the forecast finish.
- Select Save. A message confirms Digest settings saved.
Step by step: switch it on
- Go back to the Reports page and select the Digests tab.
- Find the digest. Its status reads Paused.
- Use the switch beside the status (Activate). A message confirms Digest enabled.
To stop it, use the same switch (Pause). A message confirms Digest paused.
Step by step: email the digest too
- Open the digest's settings.
- Select Email delivery below them.
- Switch on Email, tick people who can see the brand and add up to 10 other addresses.
- Select Save.
The email carries the same figures as the Slack post. Its Slack channel stays the one in the digest's own settings.
What you will see
- On the chosen day and time, a post in the Slack channel with the figures you ticked for the chosen timeframe.
- On the Reports page, the digest's Period column shows its day and time, and Last run shows when it last went out.
- Send Test (or the send icon on its row) posts it now and confirms Digest sent to a number of channels.
Troubleshooting
- "No Slack channels found. Check your Slack connection in Settings.": Slack is connected but the app cannot see any channels. Reconnect Slack, and for a private channel invite the Fabrik Analytics app to it.
- "Digest sent to 0 channel(s)": no channel is chosen. Pick one under Slack Channel and save.
- A figure shows Not connected. That platform is not connected for the brand, so it cannot appear in the digest.
- Nothing posted on the day. Check the digest is Active and the brand is being served (an active agency link or its own plan). Then email support@fabrik.ae.
