Create a report

Create a one-off report, a recurring series or a report from a template: Weekly trading, Ad creative, Monthly strategy or Email and CRM.

A report is a shareable, page-by-page summary of a brand's performance for a period, with your own notes and next steps. You can build one for a single period, set up a series that makes a new edition every week or month, or start from one of four templates.

Before you start

  • Plan: the Growth plan or above. Some sections (P&L, targets, Intelligence) need the Pro plan.
  • Role: you need permission to create reports. Agency staff usually have it. Client viewers do not; client owners and managers only if the agency has switched it on for their role.
  • Data: connect the platforms the report will cover. A section about Meta Ads with no Meta connection has nothing to show.

Step by step: start from a template

Templates are the quickest way to a finished report. Each one is a recurring series with its sections already chosen.

TemplateWhat it coversHow often
Weekly tradingLast week's sales, orders, products and paid mediaWeekly, every Monday
Ad creativePaid media and the ads that drove it, Meta creative includedMonthly
Monthly strategyThe full picture: trading, marketing, email, the P&L and IntelligenceMonthly
Email and CRMCampaigns, flows, email creative and customersMonthly
  1. Open the brand and choose Reports in the menu.
  2. Select New report.
  3. Under Start from a template, choose the template.
  4. A message says the template was created and that the latest closed period is being generated.
  5. The first edition opens in the editor, ready for your notes.

Step by step: build a strategy report

  1. In Reports, select New report.
  2. Choose Strategy report.
  3. In Strategy report cadence, pick one:
    • Monthly (recommended): generates on the 1st of each month for the previous month.
    • Weekly: generates every Monday for the previous week.
    • Quarterly, Half-year or Yearly: generates when each period of the brand's financial year closes.
    • One-off: a single report for a date range you choose.
  4. Select Create.
  5. For a recurring choice, the first edition for the latest closed period is generated and opens in the editor. For One-off, an empty report opens and you set its title, period and sections.

Other report types

  • Product Tiering Report: the tier breakdown of your products, with scores, stock health and revenue.
  • Slack digest: a short summary of chosen figures posted to Slack on a schedule. See the weekly digest article.

What you will see

  • The Reports page lists every report with its Type, Status (Draft, Published, Active or Paused), Period, Last run and Created by.
  • Tabs along the top filter by All, Strategy, Merchandising, Customers and Digests, and the status filter narrows to Active, Paused, Draft or Published.
  • New reports start as drafts. Nobody outside the editors sees them until you publish.

Troubleshooting

  • "Schedule already exists": the brand already has an active series of that cadence. The existing series opens instead of a duplicate.
  • "Not created" with a message: the report could not be saved, usually because your role or plan does not allow it.
  • The first edition did not open. Generation can take a moment. Refresh the Reports page; the new edition appears in the list.
  • A Quarterly, Half-year or Yearly series is refused. Those cadences are not available for series yet. Choose Monthly or Weekly.

Frequently asked questions

Which plan includes reports?

The report builder is on the Growth plan and above. P&L, targets and Intelligence sections need the Pro plan, and sections your plan does not include are left out of the report.

Why is there no New report button?

Your role does not allow creating reports. Client viewers can read published reports but cannot create or edit them. Ask the agency or your brand's owner.

Why is a template greyed out with a lock?

The template uses data your plan does not include, for example paid media for the Ad creative template. Hovering over it says Not on this brand's plan.

I chose a template and it opened an existing report. Why?

A brand has one active series per template. Choosing the template again opens that series' latest edition rather than creating a duplicate.

Who can see a draft?

Only people who can edit reports at the brand. Client users who cannot edit see published reports only.

Can I create a report for a whole portfolio?

Yes. Open the portfolio and choose Reports. Portfolio reports need the Enterprise plan.
