Add your company's legal details

Every company in Fabrik Analytics has one set of legal details: its legal name, where it is registered, its company number, its tax number and its addresses. Your agency has one, each brand has one, and each company in your CRM has one. Your terms, contracts and a client's billing details all read the same set.

Before you start

• Your agency: anyone who can change the agency's settings, usually its owners and directors.
• A brand: anyone who can change the brand's settings.
• A CRM company: anyone who can edit records in Sales.
• Have the company's registration details to hand, for example from its certificate of incorporation.

Where to find the form

• Your agency: open Settings, then Agency details.
• A brand: open the brand's Settings, on the tab with its name and website.
• A CRM company: open the company's record in Sales, Companies, and find Legal details.

Fill in the form

The form has three parts. The country you choose decides the legal forms, registries, number formats and tax numbers offered.

1. Company: the Trading name (if it differs from the legal name), the Website and the Contact email for your terms.
2. Legal and tax: the Country of registration, the Legal name, the Legal form, where it is Registered in, the Company number, then Tax registration (Registered or Not registered) and the Tax number. Under the legal form and where it is registered, the form shows how your terms will describe the company.
3. Addresses: the Registered address. Tick Billing address is the same as the registered address, or add a separate Billing address.
4. Save. Any detail that needs fixing is shown beside its field as you type.

For example, Fellwick Outdoor Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales, enters its company number and its UK VAT number, and ticks that its billing address is the same as its registered address.

Find the company

For a company registered in the United Kingdom you can fill the form from Companies House:

1. In Company, type the company's name or number under Find the company.
2. Choose the right company from the list. Its details fill in.
3. Check them, then save.

If you already know the company number, enter it under Company number and choose Fill from Companies House.

When you add a company in Sales, New company has the same Find the company search. The company's legal details fill in on the new record, ready to check and save.

The search only works once Companies House has been switched on for Fabrik Analytics. Until then the form says Find the company on Companies House: not connected yet, and you fill in the details yourself.

From the browser extension

On a company's page in the Fabrik Analytics browser extension, choose Find the company to search Companies House. Pick the match to save it as the company's legal details. A company that is not active is shown muted with a warning; choose Use anyway to save it. If the extension says the Companies House lookup is not set up yet, the search has not been switched on.

A CRM company that is also your client

When a company in your CRM becomes a client, its record shows the same legal details as the client's brand settings. If both already held details, the record shows Two sets of legal details: choose one. Choose the set to keep; nothing is merged until you do.

What you will see

• Legal and billing details to complete on the Settings and Billing pages, while something your country needs is missing. Complete them in Settings opens the form.
• Legal details saved once the form is saved.
