Why does net sales differ from Shopify?
Fabrik mirrors Shopify's own sales report. Here are the settings and timing differences that make the two disagree, and how to line them up.

Fabrik Analytics counts sales order by order exactly as Shopify's own sales report does: gross sales, discounts, returns, net sales, shipping, taxes and duties, on the store's own day. When the two disagree, one of the settings below is almost always the reason.
Before you start
- Compare with Shopify's sales report (Shopify admin, Analytics, Reports), not with an order export. An order export lists orders placed; the sales report also counts refunds on the day they are made.
- Note your brand's reporting currency and data filters, below.
Step by step: line the two up
- Use the same dates. In Fabrik, set the period in the command bar. In Shopify, set the same dates.
- Check the store's day. Both count by the store's own time zone. If you are in another time zone, orders near midnight can seem to land on a different day.
- Check the currency. In Fabrik, open the currency menu in the command bar and choose Brand. If your reporting currency (Settings, Financial) differs from the store's currency, Fabrik converts each day at that day's rate, so it will not match Shopify's figure in the store's currency.
- Check the data filters. Open Settings, Integrations, the Shopify card, Data filters. Any sales channel or tag excluded there (for example point of sale, draft orders or wholesale) is left out of every Fabrik sales figure. Apply the same filter in Shopify's report.
- Check the figure. Net sales leaves shipping out. Net sales + shipping adds it. Total sales adds shipping, taxes and duties.
Differences by design
| What | Fabrik and Shopify |
|---|---|
| Gift cards | Left out of gross sales by both. An order of only gift cards is not an order. |
| Returns | Taken off on the day of the refund, by both. |
| Tax inside prices | Taken out of gross sales at what was actually charged, by both. |
| Cancelled and unpaid orders | Counted in gross sales by both, as Shopify does. |
| Test orders | Left out. |
Troubleshooting
- A recent day is lower in Fabrik. An order or refund may still be on its way. New orders normally arrive as they are placed and a regular check fills gaps. Look again later.
- Taxes show as zero but you charge VAT. Your products may not be marked as taxable in Shopify. Switch on Manually calculate tax in Settings, Financial, enter the Tax rate (%) and save. Agency staff then re-sync Shopify from the Shopify card in Settings, Integrations so history is recalculated; otherwise email support@fabrik.ae to have it done.
- Older months differ. If you connected recently, older history may still be being read. Check the setup checklist on Home.
- Still different? Email support@fabrik.ae with the brand, the dates, the currency shown, your Fabrik figure and Shopify's, and a screenshot of each.
